- History: Averan Thal was born to a small village on Dantooine. At the age of five, her family was captured by slavers from the Exchange and were sold to several wealthy merchants on Nar Shaddaa. Separated and thought to be lost forever, she spent her life being tortured by the cruel Master Jatheg, an impetuous young crime lord.
Averan's connection with the force saved her from many lethal blows in the aftermath of Jatheg's anger. At the age of eight, Master Jatheg introduced men of various species to Averan for sport. During this time, her connection with the force strengthened and blossomed as she learned to partition her mind and shield herself from physical pain. However, the emotional trauma inflicted by the incidents were something she could never fully rid herself of.
By the age of 17, Averan had matured into a woman of ample curves and growing hatred. That hatred hit its peak as Jatheg brought a Twi'lek slave into the household by the name of Serathen. Young Serathen was placed at the mercy of Jatheg's colleagues and was unable to protect herself from their desires. Though Averan tried to shield the child that she came to see as a sister, one day she was forced on an errand during the visitation of several merchants for Jatheg. In a gesture of friendship, Jatheg allowed the men to play with little Serathen. However, two of the merchants fought over the girl and in their haste, broke her neck.
At the death of Serathen, Averan went mad. She stole small knives from the pantry and drugged the guards to eternal sleep using their evening wine. In the night, she stole to the servants' quarters and cut their throats as they slept. Jatheg, however, wasn't as fortunate. Using the force to gag him, Averan cut small slivers of flesh from his torso until he eventually died. By morning, Averan's hair had turned white.
In the next ten years, Averan spent her time traveling through the seedier areas of galaxy. She became known as the Raven, an identity associated with chaos and death. It wasn't until she met Tulisin, a Sith Lord, that she began to realize that her hatred had consumed her, and in her shame, she fled. Tulisin pursued her and was there at her every turn, offering her a refuge that she refused.
During her travels and her clandestine meetings with Tulisin, Averan was exposed to the teachings of the hologram Kel'eth Ur from the Dark Temple of Dromund Kaas. These teachings would become the basis of her shaping identity. Gradually, Averan accepted Tulisin into her life and five years after their meeting, they were married.
When Tulisin was sent on a mission in the Outer Rim, Averan was saved by two members of Pax Imperius in a small cantina on Nar Shaddaa from a notorious bounty hunter. Averan remained with these two, Graven and Demijj, in order to hunt down the bounty hunter and to kill him. However, during their travels the three became steadfast friends and were the beginnings of a small Pax Imperius sect called The Skeleton Crew.
