Seven moons hung in the evening sky as the sun began to dip beneath a golden horizon, where azure waves glistened and frothed. The light never left the sky, though it eased from that honey cover to the soft hands of an alabaster lover that left the world filled with pockets of shadow. A small cove played host to a home lifted above the waves, bright and hallowed in this transition to dusk.
A lone figure ran on the desolate shore, casting a long shadow that frolicked along the sandy dunes. White hair streamed behind her, twisting between the fingers of a caressing wind. Her feet beat a merry tune as she laughed, revealing a delicate face with lips curved in simple joy. She collapsed in the shallow waters, the curve of her body buried beneath the crest of each wave.
"Oh, Evrend," she breathed. Alabaster eyes stared at the heavens, seeking each star with restless wonder.
There was a moment of silence, then a person emerged from dunes. The darkness materialized into a tall, lean young man with narrow shoulders and a long face. His pale flesh shone in the moonlight, stark against the curl of obsidian hair. Emerald eyes shone with muted warmth, and he cast a somber picture as he watched the woman. Slowly he eased himself down behind her, keeping clear of the encroaching water.
"We can't do this anymore, Perath. The Queen Mother grows suspicious of me, and I fear she'll find out about you," he sighed. One finger eased through the sand, carving an intricate path.
In the light of the Hapes night, her copper skin was illuminated. Her smile reflected the ardor of his heart as she looked up at him. His breath quickened.
"Master, do I not please you?" she crooned. Her head tilted to the side and she lifted a hand, gently tucking white hair behind a pointed ear.
